is a shortcut for something:

$Log::ger::Current_Level = $Log::ger::Levels{debug};

On the command-line, this:

% DEBUG=1 perl -MLog::ger::Level::FromEnv ...

can be shortened somewhat to:

% perl -MLog::ger::Level::debug ...
