NAME

Require::HookChain::munge::prepend - Prepend a piece of code to module source

VERSION

This document describes version 0.016 of Require::HookChain::munge::prepend (from Perl distribution Require-HookChain), released on 2023-12-05.

SYNOPSIS

use Require::HookChain -end=>1, 'munge::prepend' => 'use strict'; # the semicolon and newline is added automatically

The above has a similar effect to:

use everywhere 'strict';

because it will prepend this line to each source code being loaded:

use strict;

DESCRIPTION

Note that this hook should be put after other sources so by the time this hook runs, the source code is already available.

FAQ

It doesn't work, it does not munge source code!

You might've installed the hook like this:

use Require::HookChain 'munge::prepend' => '...';

in which case the hook is installed at the beginning of @INC (after RHC's own hook). When a user require's a module, by the time the munge::prepend hook runs, the source code is not yet available. You'll want to install the hook at the end of @INC so other sources and hooks provide the source code first:

use Require::HookChain -end=>1, 'munge::prepend' => '...';

CONTRIBUTING

To contribute, you can send patches by email/via RT, or send pull requests on GitHub.

Most of the time, you don't need to build the distribution yourself. You can simply modify the code, then test via:

% prove -l

If you want to build the distribution (e.g. to try to install it locally on your system), you can install Dist::Zilla, Dist::Zilla::PluginBundle::Author::PERLANCAR, Pod::Weaver::PluginBundle::Author::PERLANCAR, and sometimes one or two other Dist::Zilla- and/or Pod::Weaver plugins. Any additional steps required beyond that are considered a bug and can be reported to me.
