NAME

Sim::OPT::StructureDesign - explicit transformations of Sim::OPT design lattices

DESIGN VOCABULARY

Evaluate points on the current design lattice. This remains Sim::OPT's job; this module records the lattice on which the search is performed.

zoom_in

Reduce scope around an incumbent while decreasing grid spacing (increasing resolution). The local workspace is centred on the incumbent. If the incumbent is on an old boundary, the refined-global union expands by the fine-grid levels needed to preserve that centred zoom rather than clipping it to one side.

zoom_out

Embed results obtained on a finer local lattice back into a finer global lattice covering the parent scope. Existing parent levels map by j' = o + 1 + r (j - 1), where o is the coordinate-origin offset introduced only when a centred boundary zoom expands the union. The resulting global lattice may contain unsampled points (voids).

pan

Move the sampled window while preserving its scope and resolution. A pan can be combined with zooming, but is represented separately in the manifest.

SAFETY MODEL

Planning is pure and non-destructive. Workspace creation refuses to overwrite an existing destination. Merge/renaming should be executed only from a validated manifest; short numeric IDs must be treated as identifiers, never replaced by a blind text substitution.
