NAME

Pg::SQL::PrettyPrinter::Node - Base class for all elements of query parse tree.

SYNOPSIS

This is base class for all Pg::SQL::PrettyPrinter::Node::* classes.

Not to be used separately

FUNCTIONS

new

Base object constructor, to be inherited by all Pg::SQL::PrettyPrinter::Node::* subclasses.

In its base form, it just clones given data, and blesses it using its own class.

make_from

Makes objects based on data given.

make_from(HASHREF)

If given data is HASHREF, it makes single object.

The hashref should contain just one key, whose name starts with upper case letter.

Based on this hash, new class is being generated:

Pg::SQL::PrettyPrinter::<NAME_OF_THIS_KEY>

And then object of this class is built with value from given HASHREF being passed as source.

For example, if we'd call:

$self->make_from( { 'SelectStmt' => [ 1, 2, 3 ] } )

It would return result of:

Pg::SQL::PrettyPrinter::Node::SelectStmt->new( [ 1, 2, 3 ] )

make_from(ARRAYREF)

If given data is arrayref, make_from will be called on each element of the array separately, and then it will return arrayref with all gathered elements.

This is to repeat writing similar code:

my $whatver = [ map { $self->make_from( $_ ) } @{ $self->{ 'something'} } ];

Instead you can just:

my $whatever = $self->make_from( $self->{ 'something' } );

objectify(key, key, key)

Wrapper around make_from, which, for every given argument, checks if the argument exists inside $self, and if so, replaces it with output from $self-make_path> of it.

This means that these blocks are functionally equivalent:

$self->{'xxx'} = $self->make_from( $self->{'xxx'} ) if exists $self->{'xxx'};

and

$self->objectify( 'xxx' )

In case key is arrayref, it is then treated as subhashes within $self, so

$self->objectify( ['a', 'b'] )

is the same as:

$self->{'a'}->{'b'} = $self->make_from( $self->{'a'}->{'b'} ) if exists $self->{'a'}->{'b'};

get_container_key

Helper method that converts given argument into pair of (container, key) using following semantics:

  • $self->get_container_key( 'x' ) => ($self, 'x')

  • $self->get_container_key( [ 'a', 'b', 'c' ] ) => ( $self->{'a'}->{'b'}, 'c' )

If any key within final expression doesn't exist in upper container ($self-{'a'}> or $self-{'a'}->{'b'}) it will return undef;

pretty_print

This is supposed to be overriden in Node::* classes that require smart pretty-printing. This method just returns the same thing as as_text(), to make it easier to write classes that don't require special pretty printing.

quote_literal

Returns given value as fully quoted literal value ready to be used in SQL.

For example:

$self->quote_literal( "String with ' character" )

will return

'String with '' character'

quote_ident

Returns given value as fully quoted identifier ready to be used in SQL.

For example:

$self->quote_literal( 'Abc"d' )

will return

"Abc""d"

increase_indent

Takes given argument and increases indentation level on all of its lines, by one level (four spaces).

$self->increase_indent( "abc\ndef" )

will return

"    abc\n    def"

increase_indent_n

Takes two arguments, where first is number of levels to increase indent, and behaves like increase_indent repeated n times.

$self->increase_indent_n( 2, "abc\ndef" )

will return

"        abc\n    def"
