          - Frozen read-only mode: freeze() seals a file-backed structure;
            new_readonly() maps it O_RDONLY and queries it lock-free.
          - Clamp the derived depth for a subnormal delta; it could collapse to
            a single hash row.
          - stats(): report delta as exp(-min(depth, width)).
          - Recover a file left behind by an interrupted create instead of
            leaving the path unopenable.
          - unlink() reports a removal that failed; one already gone is not an
            error.
          - Hardening: re-entrancy with tied and overloaded arguments, and

          - On-disk format change (v1 -> v2): an existing 0.02 file is
            refused; recreate it.
          - Fix a use-after-free in merge(): sv_isobject on the peer argument
            runs get-magic, so a tied argument can destroy this object before
            its handle is used again. Such a call now croaks.
          - Resolve argument magic before capturing the path string.
          - Document that counters wrap at 2^64.
