libpoe-component-irc-perl before v6.32 does not remove carriage returns and line feeds. This can be used to execute arbitrary IRC commands by passing an argument such as \"some text\\rQUIT\" to the 'privmsg' handler, which would cause the client to disconnect from the server.

Changes for version 2.8 - 2003-06-07

Applied dngor's mega-patch, which fixes (among other things): a fix for a nasty lockup, improved error reporting, and better flood control.
Fixed some broken URLs and a couple mistakes in the documentation.
