NAME

Bencher::Scenario::Textsprintfn - Benchmark Text::sprintfn vs sprintf()

VERSION

This document describes version 0.002 of Bencher::Scenario::Textsprintfn (from Perl distribution Bencher-Scenario-Textsprintfn), released on 2016-06-28.

SYNOPSIS

To run benchmark with default option:

% bencher -m Textsprintfn

To run module startup overhead benchmark:

% bencher --module-startup -m Textsprintfn

For more options (dump scenario, list/include/exclude/add participants, list/include/exclude/add datasets, etc), see bencher or run bencher --help.

BENCHMARKED MODULES

Version numbers shown below are the versions used when running the sample benchmark.

Text::sprintfn 0.08

BENCHMARK PARTICIPANTS

  • Text::sprintfn::sprintfn (perl_code) [sprintfn]

    Function call template:

    Text::sprintfn::sprintfn(<format>, @{<data>})
  • sprintf (perl_code) [sprintf]

    Code template:

    sprintf(<format>, @{<data>})

BENCHMARK DATASETS

  • {data=>[1],format=>"%s"}

  • {data=>[1,2,3],format=>"%s%d%f"}

  • {data=>[{a=>1}],format=>"%(a)s"}

  • {data=>[{a=>1,b=>2,c=>3}],format=>"%(a)s%(b)d%(c)f"}

SAMPLE BENCHMARK RESULTS

Run on: perl: v5.22.1, CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 cores), OS: GNU/Linux Debian version 8.0, OS kernel: Linux version 3.16.0-4-amd64.

DESCRIPTION

Packaging a benchmark script as a Bencher scenario makes it convenient to include/exclude/add participants/datasets (either via CLI or Perl code), send the result to a central repository, among others . See Bencher and bencher (CLI) for more details.
