VERSION
This document describes version 0.002 of File::Symlink::Util (from Perl distribution File-Symlink-Util), released on 2023-06-30.
SYNOPSIS

DESCRIPTION
FUNCTIONS
symlink_rel
Usage:
symlink_rel($dest_path, $link_path);
Create a relative path symlink. Basically perform File::Spec->abs2rel($dest_path)
before symlink()
.
symlink_abs
Usage:
symlink_rel($dest_path, $link_path);
Create an absolute path symlink. Basically perform File::Spec->rel2abs($dest_path)
before symlink()
.
adjust_rel_symlink
Usage:
adjust_rel_symlink($link_path1, $link_path2);
Adjust relative symlink in $link_path2
(that used to be relative to $link_path1
) so that its target now becomes relative to $link_path2
.
This is useful if you copy a relative symlink e.g. $link_path1
to $link_path2
. Because the target is not adjusted, and you want the new symlink to point to the original target. See example in Synopsis for illustration.
Both $link_path1
and $link_path2
must be symlink.
check_symlink
Usage:
my $res = check_symlink(%args);
Perform various checks on a symlink. Will return an <enveloped result|Rinci::function/"Enveloped result">, an array of the following structure: [$code, $message, $content]
. $status
will be 200 if symlink passes all checks. Otherwise, status will be 500 with $content
containing an arrayref of error messages.
Arguments:
symlink
Str, required. Path to the symlink.
target
Str, optional. If specified, then target of symlink (after normalized to absolute path) will be checked and must point to this target.
is_abs
Bool, optional. If set to true, then symlink target must be an absolute path. If set to false, then symlink target must be a relative path.
ext_matches
Bool, optional. If set to true, then if both symlink name and target filename contain filename extension (e.g.
.jpg
) then they must match. Case variation is allowed (e.g.JPG
) but other variation is not (e.g.jpeg
).content_matches
Bool, optional. If set to true, will guess media type from content and check that file extension exists nd matches the media type. Requires File::MimeInfo::Magic, which is only specified as a "Recommends" dependency by File-Symlink-Util distribution.

Other symlink-related routines
File::Symlink::Relative provides symlink_r
to create relative symlinks, which is the same as "symlink_rel".
File::MoreUtil provides file_exists
and l_abs_path
.

CONTRIBUTING
To contribute, you can send patches by email/via RT, or send pull requests on GitHub.
Most of the time, you don't need to build the distribution yourself. You can simply modify the code, then test via:
% prove -l
If you want to build the distribution (e.g. to try to install it locally on your system), you can install Dist::Zilla, Dist::Zilla::PluginBundle::Author::PERLANCAR, Pod::Weaver::PluginBundle::Author::PERLANCAR, and sometimes one or two other Dist::Zilla- and/or Pod::Weaver plugins. Any additional steps required beyond that are considered a bug and can be reported to me.
